Assignment 24A – Venture Concept No. 1
Venture Concept No. 1
Opportunity
- There will always be a need for prole to use health care services, unfortunately although many are trying to avoid it there comes a point where they have to pick up the phone and call the doctor. Either way people need to call into the medical office and they have to get call back from doctors/hospitals in order to know what the problem is. This means there needs to be a facilitation of communication between patient and health care provider
- People usually miss calls from the medical office because they are busy at work or o not have the time because of the place they are at to answer and possibly have a conversation about their lab results. Missing the call means, you have to waste time calling them back and waste time while on hold which can be 30 minutes of waiting, only for a person to tell them that it was just meant to be a quick call.
- The forces that allows this to happen is the perception that people have of time and their idea that their time is valuable and the need to have a schedule. This means that they do not see the importance in contacting their medical provider as it weighs out to the other aspects of their life. Which means that their care gets pushed to the side because the system of education i antiquated and not adopted for how people communicate now which is primarily through text on their phones.
- There is a satisfactory solution to this, and it is improving the health care system in such a way that allows for the quality of care that is offered to patients becomes better. It take out one less problem for physician assistants or nurses need to worry about, they are now getting the time to clear up more of their workload and be able to focus on the other aspects of a clinic that will improve the way people experience going to the doctor. The customer base of the clinics and the target demographic of people will be satisfied with this idea and will become a loyal client base that will make more promotion for the business.
-The potential customers that I am going to bring in a majority of them are going to be young adults and middle aged women that are in charge of scheduling the doctor appointments. They are the ones that will see this directly benefit their life and be a good investment for clinics.
Innovation
- For individuals this is great because the app that we are going to be launching will be free to the public. With the help of investors and the subscription payments of the clinic office the app that will be offered to people will be free so that is even more accessible to everyone that wants to use it.
-For the business the pricing will be different there will be a trail period where they could try it for a few months see how they like it and then allow them to pay for either yearly subscriptions or monthly. Like most things the incentive to buy the year long subscription is that it will be cheaper than paying for the month to month. They will also have a different computer program and accessibility to the app.
-The initial profits will be from the doctor's offices, as they would be the main source of profit. I want to keep it free for patients so that they do not feel excluded from health care, because health care is not a luxury it is a right that people should be entitled to. Making the app free and then adding aspects that are paid for seemed possible but also felt like that would isolate potential clients as well as turn away people who already have the service but are serving more of the undeserved communities in our areas.
Venture Concept
- Individuals are more enticed to get the app if they hear positive reviews from people they either know or trust or people online that are in the similar demographic as them. They also want to see a social media that paints the app in a positive welcoming light.
- Business will buy my service to not fall behind with the newest technology that keeps changing the future of health care. They need to update some systems before they become obsolete, because even if the quality of medical care is good but the rest of the medical experience is not that good than people will start finding other places to go to. So getting this will make them a better business overall.
- The idea of switch seems odd, not that applicable to the time of the service that I am offering. If anything the service that I am offering is the switch from the traditional phone answering services. Which means that as always people will be a little hesitant to try it but desperate to get rid of that automatic phone voice upsetting patients and themselves. So I guess we would become the major competitors to the automatic phone answering service. We will also have a different approach to marketing and advertising compared to those businesses.
Price Points
- I do not want to put money to the app so that it doesn't exclude any people that are undeserved. It is important to be as inclusive as possible and help their financial situation to help them in their medical care.
Distribution
- The main method of getting the momentum of customers is to approach it from a social media stand point. The idea is to correctly make promotional videos and to promote it on social media. Market on the very same phone that the app will be on the phone that is the selling point of there service and app.
Customer Service
- This is something big that I want to work on, because one of the good bases for a successful business is to gave a good product and good customer service. Because it only takes one bad experience when calling in for help from customer support to turn down from wanting to use the app and then the 10 people that they could also influence. I meed people that are going to be good at communication at what they good and knowing how to diffuse situations.
Location
- There is no stores that we need to set up for people to come in a buy anything, except for the app store. But we will have a big headquarters where the app developers will come in and work on coding and marketing will also take place. But there could be smaller call centers across the states that are focused on answering customer support answers from the area that they are in so they know how to better talk to those clients and can be more easily equipped to go speak to medical clinics.
Packaging
- The packaging is all going to go into how the app looks when you see it on your phone. The the simplicity and clean approach for the app so that the people find it user friendly yet aesthetic. Then the interface needs to be simple so that the people that are using it that are not a computer savvy still feel like they could use it but those that know more can customize it.
Employees
-Web Designers
-Customer Support
-Brand Ambassadors that go and speak to clinics
- App Designers
-Marketing and social media: to help really sell the product while also finding other to potential investors
-People with a medical background and People with knowledge of medical law
-I myself am the head of the business that knows how to bring in the people that will make the company thrive, and know how to sell it.
Unfair advantage
-Knowing that this is a service that so many people will enjoy and make their life more productive. This is something many people don't know that they need it but will be so grateful that they have it and find a way to integrate is as normal part of their medical care.
What's next
- I want to find a way to make these feasible for hospitals to use since they are large scale organizations, so it would be harder for them to incorporate the system but I know that this would clear up a lot of time for hospitals and medical errors.
For me
- This a step to improve health care in a small way that will ultimately make a big difference. So much goes into new techniques and machines that often the way paperwork and patient information is documented gets pushed to the side and that is when the most crucial mistakes are made.

Hi Stephany,
ReplyDeleteI like how you acknowledge that your business is a small change, but one that can, if implemented correctly, can have such a large impact on peoples lives. It is so true that in the medical field, the small pieces of information being incorrectly handled is where a lot of mistakes happen, my mom works at Mayo Clinic and she says that this problem is one of the biggest inconveniences for staff.
Hi Stephany,
ReplyDeleteI think that it is really great that you want to make a change within the community especially in the medical field. I'm just curious to know will you be making any profit from this app if it is free? I think that you did a very good job at thoroughly explaining how your app will work and how it will operate.
