Assignment 16A – What’s Your Secret Sauce?

What’s Your Secret Sauce?

Five ways in which I think I have Human Capital:
  1. Communication: One of the things that I feel I am strong at is being able to communicate with others. I know that there are many people that have a lot of anxiety when it comes to having to talk to others or when it comes to presenting their ideas. I am able to present myself verbally very well and I always believe that talking to people is the best way to resolve problems.
  2. Independence: I am used to having to stand on my own two feet and doing things myself, which can sometimes also be a crutch. Because it leads me to taking on more than I should and then not looking to share the burden with others for fear of being a burden.
  3. Compassion: I tend to always be worried about how others are doing, I want to make sure that they are okay . I want to try to understand what they are going through so that I can better learn how to connect with others.
  4. Passion: I have a lot of drive and motivation for the work and projects in my life. I tend to go hard on things and feel very hard which can be intimidating to others sometimes.
  5. Leadership: I really do believe I have what it takes to be a good leader, I have taken that role when it comes to projects in work or school. I also take the initiative to do things others sometimes don't want to.

Reflection: I think that when I have to write about myself I can be more positive about who I am then if someone asked me in person these same questions, I would be much more over critical and harsher on myself. I know some of this that my friends said are true and it always shocks me to hear it because I realize that I do offer more to people than I think.

  1. Hi Stephany,
I think communication is a very important skill to have when starting a business. For me, when I listen to someone speak about their product and they have confidence while talking, it makes me want to buy the product more. I also believe that leadership is another quality that it needed when owning your business. Once you start to employ others, people start to rely on the success of the business. Thus, the importance of having strong leadership skills.

  2. Hi Stephany,
I completely agree with your statement that you are more critical about yourself than others. I deal with this too, so my friends responses also surprised me because some of these questions are not ones that usually come up so it was weird seeing what they had observed and thought about me.
